Course Details for A.Y. 2011/2012

Course Objectives

The course is at level B1 of the Common European Framework, that is: understanding the essentials of clear messages expressed in standard language on typical familiar topics, as well as dealing with most situations arising when travelling in a country where English is spoken; producing coherent, although simple, written texts on familiar topics or of personal interest; describing experiences and events, briefly giving reasons and explanations on opinions and projects This level corresponds to that needed to pass the Preliminary English Text (PET). Moreover, the course aims at making participants able to understand technical/scientific texts in the area of computer science and related disciplines.

Course Content

• Listening) comprendere i punti essenziali di messaggi chiari espressi in lingua standard su normali argomenti familiari, nonché affrontare molte delle situazioni che si possono presentare viaggiando in una regione dove si parla inglese
• (Writing) producing coherent, although simple, written texts on familiar topics or of personal interest
• (Speaking) describing experiences and events, briefly giving reasons and explanations on opinions and projects
