Course Objectives

Digital implementation of controllers.

Course Content

• The digital control. Introduction . Control schemes. Influence of sampling on the performance of the controller. The PID controllers and their digital implementation. Parameter tuning of the controller to compensate the consequences of  "high" sampling times. Linear difference equations. The z-transform. The block diagrams. The companion canonical form for controllability. The observable, Jordan and series canonical forms. State space. Poles and transmission zeros. Delay systems. Signal analysis  and dynamic response. The spectrum of a sampled signal. The phenomenon of aliasing . Discrete equivalents . Controller design in continuous and its implementation in the digital setting. The allocation of eigenvalues ??with output feedback. The observer of the state. The stabilizability and detectability. The separation principle. The reduced observer. Systems in strict-feedforward form. Event and self-triggering digital control techniques.Examples of plant control.
